Plaza de la Armada

The Plaza de la Armada or Plaza Virgilio, located on a wide point of the coast, adds to the group of public spaces of curious conformation.

It has characteristics closer to a Park than to a Plaza. The limits are low walls, strips of trees or the vague ravines, some soft and others more dramatic cuts.

At the very edge of the south ravine, stands the enigmatic sculpture made by the Uruguayan Hispanic artist, Eduardo Diaz Yepes. The monument-sculpture in honor of the fallen in Acts of Service of the Navy, is a great bronze of abstract conception, that represents the touching moment of the death. In this work are represented marine animals and the hands of a man clinging to the formless mass. The privileged situation of this Plaza, makes it a quiet walk with unique landscape qualities.
